Dr. Ian Cooke

Specialist in Chiropratic Treatment

I was born and raised in southern California and grew up playing several sports such as baseball, football, and wrestling. Luckily for me, my team doctor on my youth football team was a Chiropractor. I had repeatedly injured my lower back playing as a linemen at the young age of 10 years old for the next 4 years before I finally decided to try and see the chiropractor for treatment. I remember my first adjustment like it was yesterday. I walked out of the office feeling nimble, and standing taller. From that point on I saw my chiropractor for my back pain as I continued to play sports throughout high school.

While in undergraduate school at Cal State San Marcos, I majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in physical therapy. I had no decision made on what I wanted to do after school, just that I wanted to help people feel better through education and hands on instructions. I always considered Chiropractic school, however I was not in love with the idea until I visited Palmer West in San Jose, CA. Their integrity as a vigorous chiropractic program was already obvious, however the sports council program, research based care, and progress towards keeping up with modern medicine was what appealed to me the most. I received a great education and clinical experience which taught me whole body approach and muscle rehabilitation to further supplement the benefits of a chiropractic adjustment.

After graduation, I was able to practice in a group setting at a pain clinic for two years. The knowledge and experience I gained from this opportunity was endless. Working alongside several providers from different backgrounds helped me gain a new way to look at certain conditions. All the while understanding how chiropractic could fit into everyone’s lives. Now that I have grown as a Doctor, I felt it was time to grow myself and see more patients that I truly enjoy to treat. I enjoy treating anywhere from pediatric care, prenatal care, athletes of all levels, computer engineers and anything in between. I stick to the humble approach of correcting structure for optimizing function of the human body, while educating the benefits of correcting habits in your everyday life to prolong your treatments successes.

In my spare time, I spend as much time as I can with my beautiful wife, Marie. We enjoy watching movies, binge watching tv series on Netflix or trying out new restaurants all over San Diego. We also have a lab/corgi mix named Parker who we love to take outdoors for hikes, walks, and trips to the beach. I love to spend my spare time with family and friends as much as possible, and remember what’s most important in our busy lives. I also love to watch and attend sports events with my friends. As a dedicated Chargers, Lakers and Yankees fan I find most of my free time dedicated to paying attention to sports and fantasy baseball.
